If youre using JOSM or another offline editor, just load the track from your hard drive. If youre using Potlatch, find the edit link to the right of your track (in the GPS traces listing), and click this - not the usual Edit tab at the top. In general, the track editing and cleaning features found in Garmin Basecamp (and probably many other computer-based editors) would be fantastic. My discoveries are based on the same questions you are asking now. I highly recommend scour the thread I linked above. In the thread linked above I describe what someone asked me, "if you remove any one point from your route, will the route change?" If the answer is yes then you don't have enough shaping points. The web map editor interface, currently in alpha stage, can be used to place markers on the map, associate AR+GPS Location data to these markers, and export a XML file with the created data to be used inside Unity, so that the AR+GPS Location plugin will automatically create the objects at the defined locations.
